DISNEY WORLD'S FANTASYLAND AT MAGIC KINGDOM... BIGGER AND BETTER!
Disney opened its doors to the media giving them a chance to view the Fantasyland construction site inside the Magic Kingdom.
The expansion will open in phases this season 2013 early 2014, this will mark the largest expansion to the park in Magic Kingdom's history.
This huge expansion has generated 700 temporary construction jobs and will create 800 permanent in-park jobs once completed.
Expected later this year are Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid, a new dark ride, the Be Our Guest Restaurant from Beauty and the Beast, and the Enchanted Tales with Belle sow/story-telling experience.
Expected next year is the Princess Fairytale Hall followed a year later by The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster attraction.
Jim MacPhee, a senior vice president at Walt Disney World, said the job creation at the park has been booming on top of another 1,500 new jobs that were created at the 1,984-room Art of Animation Resort, which opened in its first 320-suite wing themed after the “Finding Nemo” film.
Walt Disney World is “in the process of bringing on 800 cast members that will run an array of highly-skilled maintenance, food and beverage, merchandise and attraction operations services,” said MacPhee. “We think this is an extraordinary time for us and for Central Florida.”
The new Storybook Circus, which opened in June, was the first part of the new expansion to open to guests featuring two carousels of Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
